Ignition Partners and Core Capital Partners announced an investment of $9 million in Twisted Pair Solutions on September 29.
For one of the articles see The Seattle Times (9/29/06).
In our opinion, Twisted Pair is the most successful IP Radio manufacturer to date, most likely because of their all-software approach with means that they have been diligent about compatibility with all hardware including competitor Cisco (they offer the IPICS software, not yet in production release, competing with WAVE), Telex/Vega, and others.
At National Interop, we consider Twisted Pair to offer an architecture -- more than just a software application, and with that perspective they are looking into the future, beyond the relatively simple task of using IP networking to control a remote transmitter or add a console to a network.
The substantial investment by Ignition, Core, and Chart is important in two ways. First, Ignition is a powerhouse venture capital firm, founded by veterans from Microsoft and McCaw Cellular. We assume the money will be used for substantial expansion in marketing, which is sorely needed. It is essentially a secret that Twisted Pair has 20,000 licensed end users for their IP Radio solution, making them the leader in the segment. Secondly, we assume the money will also be used to help the product transition from a mostly-military installed base to the sometimes unique needs of public safety users.
Good news for National Interop customers and clients.
