Telex Vega and Twisted Pair Solutions announced August 2 that they have joined to promote the combined capabilities of WAVE (from Twisted Pair) and IP versions of their dispatch equipment and software. While the exact benefit to public safety agencies isn't yet obvious, the general idea is good news for National Interop's customers and clients.
Twisted Pair has done a great job of working with all hardware vendors -- not just Telex Vega -- while every other IP solution (including Telex Vega) works only with hardware only available from the software vendor. On the otherhand, Telex Vega really knows LMR (Land Mobile Radio) with 25+ years experience and a large installed base of desktop consoles.
We have found WAVE to be a good overall architecture, particularly as the communication system scales to hundreds of towers and thousands of users, and at the same time we have found the Telex Vega consoles, both software and hardware versions, to be excellent solutions for specific applications. We often use Telex Vega's ip223 interface for WAVE deployments, and so we look forward to further collaboration between the two companies.
We'll also toot our own horn -- National Interop was the only certified partner of both manufacturers, having certified with Twisted Pair Solutions in 2005 and gained Telex Vega VOIP certification in early 2006. Ahead of the curve!
